Mijas
Mijas
Mijas. A vast area of the Costa del Sol, stretching from Calahonda in the west to the eastern side of Fuengirola, and climbing majestically up the mountain where we find the incredible village of Mijas Pueblo.
The word "Mijas" comes from a term of endearment used for women or girls, coming from the words "mi hija", in english "my daughter". Anyone who knows the intricacies of this area hold it very dear to their hearts. It is special, varied and exciting, and maintains a huge amount of traditional Andalusian style, history and character. From the more populated coastal towns of Fuengirola, La Cala and Calahonda, to the picturesque residential communities of Campo Mijas, there is something for everyone.
If it is a seaside home within walking distance to the beach, or a gorgeous authentic villa set on the foothills of the Mijas mountain, there is something for everyone. And the cherry on top of the cake? The white-washed village of Mijas Pueblo, whose labyrinth streets weave lazily through the village which is still populated by the local people, whilst having become a very popular tourist destination.
